INSSWA is proud to announce our School Social Worker of the Year, Michele Whaley! For the few of you out there who may not know Michele from all her INSSWA involvement throughout the years, here’s a bit about her:

Career & Professional Life

Michele has worked in IPS as a school social worker for 12 years and Noblesville as the mental health coordinator for 2 years. She has done a lot in her career to be proud of. She has been specially trained in crisis response and school safety and shared her knowledge by providing trainings to her district. She has been building the capacity of profession by training interns and teaching at IUPUI. She served as president of INSSWA and is currently the president of the Midwest council. In her free time, she is an awesome mom to her son Kyler.

SSW of the Year

Michele is bold, intelligent, and highly motivated. She demonstrates a steadfast dedication to justice for all students and is a fantastic representation of our profession. She has changed the lives of many children, families and colleagues. We are incredibly proud to name her the Indiana School Social Worker of the Year.
